Sports at Clearview- What’s on offer:
During School time:
Sports Electives- Spark students will be given the opportunity to participate in the Sports Electives Program which will run throughout Term 4.
Sports Development Programme- is to provide a development course geared to the nurturing and growth of young athletes (Yr7 & 8). The program gives the students the knowledge to better their performance, both physically and mentally.
Growing Leaders- is a programme aimed at Yr8 students. The programme is designed to grow leadership potential in young people, primarily through sport and recreation.
Tennis- Yr2 through to Yr8 will have the opportunity to be exposed to some tennis coaching in term 4 week 2.
Fundamental Movement skills- we provide fundamental movement skill sessions during scheduled PE time for Teams Discover and Engage to help all of the children to develop physical literacy.
7s training for girls- The Canterbury Rugby Union have come up with a new initiative females coaching females in primary schools during lunchtimes. Clearview are lucky enough to be apart of this programme and we will be having someone come to our school from Week 6-9 of Term 3 during lunchtimes. Following these sessions Canterbury Rugby are going to hold a primary school sevens competition in term 4 for year 4,5 and 6.
Yr5/6 Sports Event- week 3 of term 4. Yr 5/6 students will have the opportunity to compete in the following sports:
Badminton
Bowls
Futsal
Teeball
Tennis
There is also a kiwi league tag (KLT) tournament in week 4 for year 5/6s.
Athletics Day- For Senior School it will be held on Thursday 13 October and Junior School Tuesday 29 November 2016.
Outside of School time:
Golf- SNAG stands for “Starting New at Golf”. It is a fun game that is easy to learn and can be played anywhere. SNAG contains all the elements of golf but in a modified form. Clearview are offering an afterschool programme for Yr1-8.
Lincoln High School Zone development programme- thanks to Lincoln High School our Yr8 students have the opportunity to sign up for sport specific programmes to help improve performance in any sport!
